Why Concordia came to be
Concordia was established in Khon Kaen after its founders observed how many families — both Thai and international — struggled to have productive conversations around significant shared decisions. The challenge was rarely a shortage of goodwill. More often it was the absence of a structured space where everyone could speak without fear of the conversation tilting sideways.
The founders drew on backgrounds in adult education, organisational process design, and cross-cultural communication. Rather than building a service around formal proceedings, they chose a different approach: make education and neutral facilitation the centrepiece, and keep every interaction voluntary, plain-spoken, and genuinely private.
Concordia has since worked with families navigating arrangements around property, care responsibilities, business transitions, and long-term household planning. The work is quiet by design. Families who come to us rarely want publicity — they want clarity and a fair process.
We remain a small, deliberately focused organisation. Our team is intentionally modest in size so that every family receives consistent, attentive support rather than being handed between coordinators.

Sunee Mongkol
Lead Facilitator
Sunee has spent over a decade designing structured dialogue processes for families and organisations across the Isan region. She holds a graduate qualification in adult education and facilitates sessions in both Thai and English.
Philip Watts
Process & Documentation Lead
Philip's background is in organisational process design and plain-language writing. He developed Concordia's written agreement framework to ensure family summaries are clear, accurate, and genuinely useful over time.
Nattaya Ruangrit
Workshop Coordinator
Nattaya coordinates and co-delivers the Respectful Conversation Workshops, adapting materials to each group's context. She brings a background in community education and bilingual curriculum design.
How We Work
Standards we hold ourselves to
Every session and document produced by Concordia follows clear principles — not because we are required to, but because families deserve consistency they can count on.
Strict impartiality
Facilitators do not advise, take sides, or express opinions on family decisions. Their role is to keep conversations structured and give each voice equal room.
Information handled carefully
Session notes are used only to produce agreed summaries and are not retained beyond the engagement. We do not share participant information with third parties.
Written summaries reviewed together
Draft documents are shared with all participants for review before finalisation. No summary is issued without agreement from every person who took part.
Voluntary at every stage
Participation cannot be required or pressured. Any participant may choose to pause or end their involvement at any point — this is built into our process, not an exception.
Bilingual capability
All core materials exist in Thai and English. Sessions can be conducted in either language or with advance bilingual support — so no participant is disadvantaged by language.
Continuous improvement
We gather structured feedback after every engagement and use it to refine our materials and facilitation approach. Families are never a testing ground — their feedback shapes better work for others.
Facilitation and family education in Khon Kaen
Concordia operates from Nai Mueang in Khon Kaen, serving families across the broader Isan region as well as expatriate and mixed-nationality households based in northeast Thailand. Our work sits in the space between informal family conversation and formal proceedings — structured enough to be productive, relaxed enough to feel safe.
The three services we offer — Respectful Conversation Workshops, Impartial Facilitation Meetings, and Written Agreement Support — were designed to be used independently or in sequence, depending on what a family needs. Some families come to us for a single workshop to sharpen how they communicate. Others go through the full sequence, from workshop to facilitated meeting to written summary, over the course of several weeks.
Our facilitation approach draws on established dialogue and process design methods adapted for family contexts in Thailand, where cultural norms around face-saving, seniority, and indirect communication are real and worth respecting. We do not impose a western conversation model. We adapt to the family in front of us.
